The First game of our new season is almost upon us, We will be playing at Regent park, Bolton, sunday 28th march 2010. first tee off 6.50 am, 4 four balls. £8 player registration to be paid then and £7 subs for the first week, thereafter subs will be £5 per week payable to the Treasurer/Finance secretary, Mr Roberts. The weekend trip to Hawkstone Park on the 15th and 16th of may is almost booked up, only 2 places left, £105 for guests and £85 for trogs members, can those who have already signed up for this let the Treasurer/finance secretary have your money as soon as possible, thank you, and good luck for the new season ahead. League points scoring system this season is as follows - 1st place 12pts, 2nd 10pts, 3rd 8pts, 4th 7pts, 5th 6pts, 6th 5pts, 7th 4pts, 8th 3pts, 9th 2pts, 10th 1pt.

TROGS on Tour weekend away, at Hawkstone Park, Shrewsbury, Was an excellent trip, the 2 courses we played on were superb, the evening meal was great and breakfast very good. There was 20 of us, 13 members and 7 guests. Ned Kelly could not come because of work commitments and Gaz Seddon could not make it because he had an argument with a door,( and the door won ) broke 2 bones in his hand. their places were taken on the last minute by 2 new guests of ours, Terry O'Connor and Barry Goddard.The competition on saturday played on the championship course was won by Dave Evans, 2nd place Keith Bradley, 3rd Des Okwabi. Macdonalds Portal, Cheshire was the venue of our 14th game of the season, we played on the championship course there, and what a lovely course it was, a nice sunny day as well. 16 people turned out, 11 members and 5 guests. Ellis Caldwell,Craig Rogan and Steve Roberts played with us for the first time, the other 2 guests were Mark Moores and Paul Kelly, Mark Moores winning the guest comp with an outstanding stableford score of 35pts playing off a handicap of 8, he also won the nearest the pin comp, well done Mark. The trogs comp was won by Steve Wallwork, 2nd was Daz Garrett and 3rd was the captain Dave Unsworth, the captain also won the longest drive comp. The Itinerary for the day is arrive at Chirk 8-30am for bacon roll and a brew, 9 holes on the par 3 course, then lunch of either chicken n chips or homemade soup and sandwiches,( please let me know asap, which lunch you prefer), then 18 holes on Captain David's course. The comp was held at Chirk Golf club near Wrexham, Wales. 15 members attended and 9 guests, we had the members individual comp, a guest comp, a 4 ball team comp, nearest pin and longest drive. The Presidents Cup was won by Keith Bradley, 2nd was Mick Cocker and 3rd was Rob Black. The Presidents guest shield was won by Mark Pickston, 2nd was Steve Haslam and 3rd Mark Moores. The 4 ball team winners were Mark Jordan, Mark Pickston, Steve Wallwork and Bernie Kelly. 2nd were Keith Bradley, Dek Roberts, Jeff Moss and Paul Kelly. The longest drive was hit by guest Paul Kelly, and nearest the pin went to the President Bill Morgan. A pretty good day on a very nice course, then we all got back to the Royal Oak for the presentation, food then Karaoke (see photo gallery). A few bad heads this morning after suppin' all that beer. The 21st game of the season was held at Beacon Park, where only 10 members and 2 guests turned out (piss poor attendance). And even less came back to oak for presentation and all the food that Ellis and Emily had laid on for us, ( put some effort in lads, please). The 22nd game of the season was played on the centenary course at Portal, and what a very nice course that is. 14 players turned up this time, two people had to drop out due to work commitments, so there was 13 members and 1 guest, a better turn out in the Oak afterwards, where some of the members that had'nt played and the usual guests came in and graced us with there presence (nice 1, lads). The comp was won by "Dangerous" Dave Shelton, 2nd was Dek Roberts, 3rd was Dave Evans, nearest the pin was Dave Shelton and the longest drive was boomed by Dave Evans. Jeff Moss was the only guest to play and he shared the two's money with Keith Bradley. Next weeks game is at Garstang golf club.

Next week is our Captains cup day which will be played at Walton Hall, first tee off is 6.45 am, eight tee times have been booked, 32 players taking part, 16 members and 16 guests. Each 4 ball will have 2 members and 2 guests in it. The presentation will take place at the Royal Oak at around 6.00pm where there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for members and guests, plus nearest the pin, longest drive and wooden spoon, and 4 ball team winners and runners up which will be drawn blind, nobody will know who is in what team until the game has finished. There will be food layed on followed by Karaoke.

After the last trogs comp, there will be a challenge match between the trogs and the guests, the trogs captain will pick trogs team, and the guests team will be made up of the remaining trogs who have not been selected and guests who have played 2 or more games during the season, the match will take place at Walton Hall.
