 The Royal Oak Golf Society (TROGS), was first formed in1991,  the founder members were the then landlord Vic Young,Pete Parsons (who still plays with us as a guest now and again), Bill Morgan,Dave Unsworth,Rob Black,Gaz Gregory, Jack Gregory,Malc Barlow,John Buntin,George Fishwick,Gaz Richardson,Dave Campbell,Howard Lawson,Paul Carson,Vic Longdon,Kevin Hindley and Martin Watson. Sadly, Vic Young, Jack Gregory and Kevin Hindley have since passed away but they are certainly not forgotten (good lads).   The society ran for a couple of years then folded, for one reason or another. They reformed a year later as "FROGS" (former royal oak golf society), consisting of 10 of the original trogs Vic Young, Pete Parsons,Bill Morgan, Dave Unsworth,George Fishwick,Kevin Hindley,Rob Black,Paul Carson,Gaz Richardson and Vic Longdon together with Grant Longdon,Steve Wallwork,Warren Pearson Snr, Warren Pearson Jnr,John Tymon,Paul Fitzsimmons,Bob Sargeson,Simon Green, Ian Collier and Jamie Vegas(don't know his real surname),The frogs lasted a couple of years then also folded (see a pattern developing here). 1997 saw new owners of the Royal Oak, and shortly afterwards the golf society started up again organised by the new owners son later to become landlord Steve Roberts(no relation) his dad Albert Roberts along with old timers Bill Morgan,Rob Black and George Fishwick(who is 72 now and still playing, well done Georgie), Steve Wallwork,Ged Ingham,Gaz Baker,Gaz Seddon,John Wragg,Gerry McManus,Simon Langton,Daz Chan,Geoff Whitehead,Keith Bradley,Rob Bovill, the (mitchell brothers) Mike and Mark Cunningham,and Steve's father-in-law Ellis Caldwell whose daughter Michelle took over as landlady in 2000.           Below are some of the blokes who have been members of the trogs.
